Cedar Grove Middle School – Spring 2025 MAP Progress Monitoring Update
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
We are excited to share the progress of our scholars as we continue to track their growth in Math and Reading through the MAP assessments. The dedication of our students, teachers, and families has been incredible, and we are proud of the growth we are seeing across all grade levels. Your continued support plays a vital role in our shared mission to ensure every student succeeds.
Student Growth Overview
Math
6th Grade: Steady growth in Math, with a slight slowdown in Spring. We’ll focus on maintaining this progress through targeted support.
7th Grade: Consistent growth throughout the year. We’re committed to offering additional Math support to help students continue their success.
8th Grade: Strong growth across all terms, with significant progress in Spring. We’ll continue the strategies that have worked so well for our 8th graders.
Reading
6th Grade: Exceptional growth in the Spring, showing that recent interventions are having a positive impact.
7th Grade: Impressive Spring growth, reflecting the effectiveness of our reading strategies. We’ll build on this momentum.
8th Grade: The strongest gains in Reading have come from 8th grade. We are excited to continue supporting our scholars as they prepare for the next phase of their education.
Key Takeaways
We’re seeing tremendous growth in both Math and Reading, especially in the Spring. The data shows that our scholars are making great strides, particularly in Reading, and we will continue to focus on maintaining this momentum. For Math, we are focusing on targeted interventions, particularly in 6th and 7th grades, to ensure sustained growth.
Next Steps for Continued Success
Maintain the momentum in Reading: We’ll continue with the strategies that led to strong Spring growth.
Provide focused Math support: We’ll provide additional interventions in Math, especially for 6th and 7th graders, to keep students on track.
Replicate successful strategies: We’ll look at what’s worked for Reading and apply those strategies to Math.
Ongoing professional development: Teachers will receive continued support in differentiated instruction and intervention strategies to help all students reach their full potential.
Dress Code Reminder
As we return from Spring Break, we kindly remind all families to review our Student Dress Code with their scholars. It is essential that students dress in a manner that supports a middle school-friendly and appropriate learning environment. Please remember that the following attire is not allowed:
Cut-off shirts
Tights, miniskirts, or skirts that are excessively short
Head scarves or sleeping bonnets
Hooded sweatshirts or hats (worn inside the building)
Clothing that violates the Student Code of Conduct
If a scholar arrives in clothing that violates the dress code, they will be denied entry into the instructional environment. Parents will be contacted to provide a change of clothing before the scholar can re-enter the classroom. Following the dress code policy is necessary for maintaining an appropriate and respectful atmosphere for our students, ages 10-14. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in ensuring that our school remains a positive space for all.
As we move forward, we remain committed to ensuring that every scholar thrives in a supportive, engaging, and enriching environment. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping our students achieve success.
We hope you have a wonderful and restful Spring Break, and we look forward to even more growth and progress in the months to come.
Cedar Grove Over Everything!
Warmly,
Principal Holloway
